The Baro Soccer Club is named after one of Africa's magnificent navigable rivers located in southwestern Ethiopia. We chose Baro for our name to keep up with the tradition of glorifying Ethiopia's mighty creations and historical places. In this case, we have selected Baro River, which is one of the breathtaking scenes of the World: This is Ethiopia's true tropical zone and here are found all the elements of the African safari. Nile perch weighing 100 kilos can be caught in the waters of the Baro, snatched from the jaws of the huge crocodiles that thrive along with other river-bank residents that include the Nile lechwe, buffalo, giraffe, tiang, waterbuck, roan antelope, zebra, bushbuck, Abyssinian reedbuck, wart hog, hartebeest, lion, elephant, and hippopotamus.
The Baro Soccer Club of Seattle was formed to carry the huge responsibility to maintain our heritage and unique cultures and to pass them unaltered, but developed to our children, to cultivate the Ethiopian spirit and nature in our youth and all, to elevate the competitive nature and ability of Ethiopians, to develop sport programs in which all Ethiopians will be able to participate in the activities and or as spectators and have a good time. Thus our team will compete with the local leagues and and ESFNA (Ethiopian Sports Federation of North America). We will continue working together with the Ethiopian community and the Dashen Soccer club.
The Baro Sports Club is registerd as Not Profit Organization in the State of Washington with UBI# 602 002 540.
