Oh what a Saturday
My Rainy Saturday
In a rainy Saturday around 12:30 PM, I was heading to Bellevue to see my good Malaysian Friend, his family and his new House/Mansion. I was excited to see him after 2 years. My friend, Hon Wan is a Chinese decent who loves to get together with a family and friend, eat and drink. On my way to his house my tire blew up on I-90 and I had to exit ,get the spare tire. Thanks to some good Samaritans by Factoria Car Wash helped me out. I made it to his house and hang out till 8:30 PM. On my way back home I decided to go to fund raising event for Ethiopian car-accident victim at one of the Ethiopian Restaurant.
I headed to the restaurant and greeted by a couple of guys I know at the door. Since it was a fund raising, there was no limit for the entrance fee. I dropped Jackson and headed to the bar, ordered a bottle of Gunniess , started watching our UW Huskies loses game on the last 5 seconds to Arizona State University. More people arrived including my friend whom he told me about the event. We were enjoying our company and drinking, chatting with others and eating complimentary "Sambusa". I paid my bill and told my friend that I was leaving. I got out to the parking lot to check on my car. Here there were 4 cars blocking my way from leaving the establishment.
I went back to the restaurant and asked organizers if they can help me out to tell the car owners to move their cars. One of the organizers said: "Do you have to go to work tonight". I was dumbfounded. Why did he ask this stupid question? It is none of his business if I have to go to work, home or any other place. The other fellow realized that I was really mad, told me he will announce on the PA system to the owners to remove their car.
After that I told the restaurant owner my problem. He promised me the organizers would take care of it. While I was waiting near my car an older lady came to my direction and opened the car's door that blocked me. I asked her why she parked her car illegally blocking. She told me the owner allowed her to do so.
Once again I went back to talk to the owner and asked him why he allowed customers to park illegally. I kid you not, he said, "Let's help each other. That's how I do business. Why don't you drive on the walking-pave(side of the road) until you reach to the road? I do it all the times. I can't call the owners now. There is party going on". I could not believe my ears. Am I in the freaking twilight zone? The owner prefers to break the law and fire Marshall Code to call the people to move their cars. After a few minutes, I got back to the restaurant pleading the organizers to use the PA system to announce one more time. Here came a guy I saw a couple of times in my life offered me a dinner to stay longer so the blockers should not be disturbed while having fun.
Where is the common sense?I managed to get my car from the parking lot with the help of my friend and others with the tiny room available to maneuver. I saluted the owner and other guys. The owner did not offer an apology or any kind.
I drove home thinking. Do I really care too much how people think and do? All I wanted was to go home early. I knew some of the people looked at me as a jerk who came to ruin their precious evening. What a day! I hoped the people I hung out tomorrow would have a little bit common sense.
